Kafireni Kesha runs a stall at the market selling tomatoes that she farms herself.
While Kafireni has received agricultural training, she found it difficult to put the lessons she had learnt into practice without any capital. She is requesting a $100 loan so that she can increase her farm’s efficiency and productivity, meaning she will have more produce to sell on and the costs will be lower. Her motivation to grow her business is her family. Although her husband works at a local tobacco farm his salary is very low and certainly not enough to cover the school fees for their five school-aged children. Her vision is for her children to receive a good education and to be able to extend her four-roomed home.
